A little bit about our son ⬇️
My son turned 3 in April, he has high functioning autism, he is nonverbal, he has no danger awareness, little to no basic understanding. He has severe episodes of head banging which has caused him so many accidents plus he has mobility issues on top which is also caused by sensory issues. He has something called RMD (Rhythmic movement disorder) he will head bang in his sleep all night long for up to 7-8 hours at most and that's if he sleeps. It is causing him to have a swollen forehead in the mornings and his nose is turning flat which is causing oxygen intake problems which has also been detected low in his blood tests. Night times I generally hate and dred because he is so hyperactive he doesn't even want to sleep. Most nights he will go to sleep in my arms around 9-9.30pm, go to bed about 10pm, then a few hours later if that he is wide awake bouncing off the walls. Sometimes it has taken me until 6.30am/7am to get him back to sleep and by this point we are just all overly exhausted. We were due to be seen by the sleep clinic but the are at capacity and aren't accepting new patients so we are awaiting to be seen by the specialist nurses through the my son's paediatrician to be put on a trial for melatonin. He has overcome a lot in the space of a year and a half and I'm just so proud of him, he has a long journey ahead of him but I know we can get through it. His fight is my fight, I am his biggest advocate and his loudest voice and I will never give up on him to get the help he desperately needs. We have so many services and professionals involved and I'm just so thankful we've come so far already and I can't wait to see what the future will hold for him 🙏🏼

Mum ⬇️
I am going to try my absolute hardest to reach my 5km target everyday despite my ongoing debilitating health conditions and believe me there's many health problems. I also know when to stop when things get to much but even if I don't/can't reach my target for whatever the reason I will still be proud of myself because I'm doing something to help raise awareness and hopefully raise funds for the autistic community! 💕
